ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s lacrosse team (9-5, 4-2) fell to conference opponent Elizabethtown (5-8, 3-3) by a score of 11-8 on Wednesday. The Warriors must win their next game to make the Middle Atlantic playoffs.
Senior Dan Cannon (Orangeville, Ont.) scored three goals in the game, while sophomore Ed Williams (Florham Park, N.J.) found the net twice. Both players also registered an assist.
Senior Jim Cusick (Garnet Valley, Pa.) started the scoring on a Nate Walter (Harrisburg, Pa.) assist, followed by two E-town goals before Cannon scored with 11 seconds left in the first period. At halftime, the Blue Jays led the Warriors 5-4, despite second-quarter goals by Walter and Cannon.
E-town outscored Lycoming 3-1 in the third period, with freshman Andrew Stoner (Orangeville, Ont.) claiming Lyco’s only goal. The Warriors made a run in the final frame, notching two goals by Williams and another by Cannon, but
E-town matched the tally to hold its four-goal lead.
Lycoming hosts FDU-Florham (4-8, 4-2) on Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at Shangraw Athletic Complex. It is a must-win for the Warriors, who will host Widener in the MAC semi-final on Wednesday, April 30 if they defeat FDU-Florham. Otherwise, Lycoming will not make the postseason.
