WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming senior Dan Cannon (Orangeville, Ont.) and junior Kyle Gilfoy (Exton, Pa.) have earned Middle Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse Player and Goalie of the Week, respectively, for their performances in a 20-3 win over league opponent DeSales on Saturday, April 19.
Cannon registered two goals and an eye-popping eight assists for the game. He leads the MAC in goals, assists and points per game for the season. His 6.08 points per game is also tops in NCAA Division III, while he ranks third with three assists per contest. Cannon has earned MAC Player of the Week four times in 2008.
Gilfoy allowed just three goals in three quarters against DeSales. He also made five saves and scooped up a ground ball before giving way to his back-ups in the fourth period. Gilfoy’s stout defense between the pipes has helped Lycoming establish a 4-1 conference record thus far. This is the fifth time that he has been named Goalie of the Week and the sixth time that a Warrior has claimed that honor this year.
Lycoming hosts MAC opponent FDU-Florham on Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. The Warriors will celebrate Senior Day, as it is the final regular-season game of the year. The MAC Playoffs begin on April 30.
