Sye named Commonwealth Player of the Week

Greg SyeANNVILLE, Pa. – Lycoming senior Greg Sye has been named the Commonwealth Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week for his efforts during the week ending Sunday, Nov. 30. The honor was announced on Monday, Dec.1, by the league office.

Sye, a native of Chantilly, Va., averaged 19.0 points and 8.7 rebounds over a three-game span last week He had back-to-back double-doubles in wins against Penn College (13 pts., 10 reb.) and Skidmore (22 pts., 10 reb.) and then led the team with 22 points in a close loss at Rochester.

He shot .697 from the field (23-of-33) and also had two blocks and one steal during the week.

Sye was named to the Rochester Holiday Inn Airport Classic All-Tournament team after leading Lycoming with 44 points and 16 rebounds in two games.

The 6-5 forward now has 992 career points and is poised to join an exclusive list of former players that have reached the 1,000-point plateau.

Sye will have his first chance to reach the career milestone on Wednesday, Dec. 3, when Lycoming travels to Elmira for a 7 p.m. tip. That game will be broadcast live by ESPN Radio on 104.1 FM and 1050 AM in Lycoming County and online via a free Web stream at www.espnwilliamsport.com.
