SHENANDOAH, Va.—Lycoming’s men’s basketball team (4-2) lost at Shenandoah University (6-1) on Saturday, December 1 by a score of 84-74. Both teams were looking to win their fifth straight game.
Lycoming had six players in double figures, led by junior Greg Sye (Chantilly, VA) who scored 14. Senior guard David Wilson (Pottsville, PA) hit three of five from three-point range and notched 11 points on the afternoon, while fellow senior Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, PA) made three of nine from downtown, on his way to 13 points.
Sophomores Eric Anthony (Wheeling, WV) and Ricky Varnell (Patterson, NY) recorded 12 points apiece, while junior Jemayne Nowlin (Gaithersburg, MD) had 10.
The Warriors battled back from a 41-28 halftime deficit with a 9-0 run to open the second half. However, Shenandoah maintained the lead, which they held for most of the game. Lycoming got as close as 77-71 with one minute remaining, but the Hornets hit seven of their final eight shots to seal the victory.
Shenandoah converted 30 of 38 free throw attempts for the game. Lycoming committed 29 fouls on the day and only went to the line nine times.
The Warriors return home on Tuesday night to face Elmira in Lamade Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
