NEW YORK, N.Y.—One of Lycoming College’s incoming freshman basketball players was honored by The Boy’s Club of New York at its 31st Annual Hall of Fame Dinner this summer. Sebastian Sabella (Bayside, NY) shared the Frank Scott Award with his Episcopal High School teammate Simeon Brown.
Both student-athletes were involved in BCNY’s Independent School Placement Program and found themselves as basketball co-captains last season at Episcopal in Alexandria, Virginia. Sabella and Brown also participated in BCNY’s Academic All-Star trip to Italy in July 2005.
Sabella is a three-year starter for Episcopal’s varsity team and comes to Lycoming as a 6’3” guard with outstanding potential. He should immediately bolster an already solid Warrior backcourt in 2007-2008.
Lycoming head basketball coach Don Friday sees Sabella as an excellent prospect on the court and in the classroom. Friday says, “The BCNY’s mission is simple: helping young people in the present and preparing them for life down the road. This honor recognizes Sebastian as the elite of the elite. It’s a tremendous honor for him and a credit to his immediate family and the people in the education field who’ve helped him with their hard work.”
The Boy’s Club strives to sustain an environment that nurtures individual talent, strengthens family, and promotes strong citizenship while fostering a passion for learning. BCNY is currently celebrating 130 years of youth development.
The Frank Scott Memorial Scholarship Award is presented annually at the BCNY All Sports Hall of Fame Dinner to help further the education of a deserving young man.
