WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s basketball team (12-8, 3-2) defeated non-conference opponent PSU-Hazleton (8-7) by a score of 79-57 on Thursday at Lamade Gymnasium. The game had been rescheduled from Jan. 17 because of icy conditions.
The Warriors were led by sophomore Eric Anthony’s (Wheeling, W.V.) 21 points, 15 of which came in the opening half, helping Lycoming to a 44-20 halftime lead. Anthony hit three three-pointers before the break, on his way to five for the game.
Warrior senior Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, Pa.) hit a pair of threes for the night and converted all four of his foul shots, finishing with 14 points and five rebounds. Juniors Greg Sye (Chantilly, Va.) and Jemayne Nowlin (Gaithersburg, Md.) scored nine points apiece. Sye blocked two shots.
Morris, senior David Wilson (Pottsville, Pa.) and sophomore Billy Goodell (Williamsport, Pa.) each had four assists. Wilson and Goodell scored nine and four points, respectively.
The Nittany Lions were led by Mark Scarcella, who drained five threes for all of his 15 points, and point guard James Harley, who finished with 14 points.
Lycoming gets back to Commonwealth Conference action this Saturday, facing Widener at Lamade Gymnasium at 3 p.m. The game will be preceded by the women’s team taking on Widener at 1 p.m. Please wear pink to the game, as it is “Think Pink” breast cancer awareness day.
