GRANTHAM, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s basketball team (9-8, 1-2) fell to Commonwealth Conference opponent Messiah College (13-5, 2-1) by a score of 79-68 on Wednesday night at Brubaker Auditorium.
Lycoming sophomore point guard Eric Anthony (Wheeling, W.V.) led all Warriors with 20 points and seven rebounds, hitting four three-pointers for the game. Senior Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, Pa.) continued his streak of seven straight games in 2008 with 10 or more points by tallying 15. Junior forward Greg Sye (Chantilly, Va.) scored 10, sinking 5-of-8 shots from the field.
For Messiah, five players notched double-digit points for the contest, including 15 points for Jason Miller and 14 for Darryl Brown.
The Warriors trailed by just two points at halftime, 38-36, but went 1-of-14 from three-point range in the second period. Meanwhile, the Falcons hit 24 of 28 free throws after the break to secure the victory.
Lycoming will try to even its conference record this Saturday, Feb. 2 against Commonwealth foe Albright College (13-3, 3-0) at 3 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
