PITTSBURGH, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s basketball team fell to Carnegie Mellon by a score of 81-59 on Sunday. Carnegie Mellon is listed in the “others receiving votes” category of the top-25 national ranking on D3hoops.com.
The Warriors were led by 12 points from senior swingman Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, Pa.), who also hit a team-high two three-pointers. Sophomore center Ricky Varnell (Patterson, N.Y.) scored ten points and led Lycoming with two blocks.
Sophomore point guard Eric Anthony (Wheeling, W.V.) and freshman forward Will Kelly (Williamsport, Pa.) each grabbed four rebounds. Kelly and senior guard David Wilson (Pottsville, Pa.) scored seven points apiece.
The Warriors were down by just five points at halftime, 34-29, but shot just 31.3% from the field in the second half. Meanwhile, Carnegie Mellon shot a blistering 58.6% in the second period to lead by as much as 25. The Tartans achieved four individual career-highs in the game, including Greg Kozak’s 21-point performance.
Lycoming returns home to face Penn State-Hazleton on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7:00 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
