WASHINGTON, D.C.—Lycoming’s men’s basketball team traveled to Washington, D.C. recently. The trip gave the Warriors a special opportunity to tour the United States Capitol Building as a guest of U.S. Congressman Tim Holden, a representative of Schuylkill, Berks and Dauphin Counties.
The team enjoyed a private tour of the Capitol by Holden and learned first hand about the country’s legislative body. The Warriors also visited the original Supreme Court chamber, where they toured the inside of the chamber, and sat in the observation gallery overlooking the current House of Representatives. Friday and his players finished their tour by taking in the sights of the rotunda.
“It was very interesting,” said senior guard David Wilson (Pottsville, PA). “I had never been to the Capitol, and I appreciated the history, and the art and sculptures in each area.”
The team looks forward to opening its season on Friday, November 16 with the Lycoming Tip-Off Tournament. Lycoming plays Penn State-Altoona at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, with the championship and consolation game scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
