READING, Pa.—Lycoming College’s men’s basketball team (15-8, 6-2) edged Albright (14-7, 4-4) by a score of 75-73 on Saturday at Bollman Center. With the win, the Warriors maintain sole possession of first place in the Commonwealth Conference and secure a spot in the conference playoffs.
Sophomore point guard Eric Anthony (Wheeling, W.V.) led the Warriors with 19 points, including a game-high three three-pointers. Anthony also dished a team-high four assists.
Junior forward Greg Sye (Chantilly, Va.) had 12 points and four rebounds, while junior guard Jemayne Nowlin (Gaithersburg, Md.) scored 10 points.
Senior Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, Pa.) scored five points. It was the first time Morris was held to single-digit scoring in 2008. Morris still managed to lead Lycoming with seven rebounds.
Albert Medoro scored 24 points for Albright. He was 10-of-12 from the foul line.
The Warriors were behind at halftime 40-31 and only led twice in the game. Lycoming grabbed its first lead with 3:42 remaining in the game when freshman Will Kelly (Williamsport, Pa.) hit a three pointer to make the score 65-64.
An Anthony three with 43 seconds left in regulation put Lycoming up 74-73. Senior David Wilson (Pottsville, Pa.) hit a foul shot and Albright’s Jeff Sparrow missed a three-point attempt in the final seconds to give Lycoming the win.
The Warriors travel next to Elizabethtown, who nipped Albright 79-75 last Wednesday, for an 8 p.m. tip-off on Tuesday, Feb 19.
Lycoming returns home for its final game of the regular season against Lebanon Valley on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. The men’s game will be preceded by the Lady Warriors facing Leb Val at 1 p.m.
