WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s basketball team (10-8, 2-2) defeated conference foe Albright (13-4, 3-1) by a score of 76-53 on Saturday in Lamade Gymnasium. Coming into the game, Albright was undefeated in Commonwealth play and listed in the “others receiving votes” category of D3Hoops.com’s national rankings.
The Warriors were led by senior David Wilson’s (Pottsville, Pa.) 15 points, 13 of which came during his strong second half. Wilson went 6-of-6 from the foul line and finished with five rebounds for the game.
Sophomore Eric Anthony (Wheeling, W.V.) scored ten second half points on his way to 14 for the day, while senior Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, Pa.) finished with 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Morris also led Lycoming with three three-point baskets.
Junior guard Jemayne Nowlin (Gaithersburg, Md.) scored all 10 of his points in the opening half, while junior forward Greg Sye (Chantilly, Va.) tallied 10 points during the contest to give the Warriors five players who scored in double-digits. Sye also grabbed six rebounds for the game.
Lycoming led 38-25 at the half and kept the Lions at bay in the second period. The Warriors secured their victory by going 9-for-9 from the foul line after the break, while Albright shot just 43.8% from the charity stripe in the second half. Despite the loss, the Lions still lead the Commonwealth with a 3-1 conference record. Lycoming is tied with three other teams for second place.
Lycoming travels to one of those teams, Lebanon Valley (8-11, 2-2), on Feb. 5 and will host PSU-Hazleton on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
