WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s basketball team (14-8, 5-2) defeated Commonwealth Conference foe Messiah (15-7, 4-3) by a score of 75-53 in Lamade Gymnasium on Wednesday night. Prior to the game, both teams were tied with Albright for first place in the Commonwealth.
Warrior senior Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, Pa.) scored a career-high 30 points, while grabbing eight rebounds to lead Lycoming in both categories. Morris went 10-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-6 from beyond the three-point line, and pocketed a team-high three steals.
Senior David Wilson (Pottsville, Pa.) and sophomore Eric Anthony (Wheeling, W.V.) each scored 11 points. Wilson hit three three-pointers in the first half to help the Warriors to a 38-22 lead at the break. Anthony scored eight second-half points to secure the victory.
For the Falcons, sharpshooter John Boyd hit four threes on his way to a team-high 14 points for the game. Messiah shot just 31.6% from the field for the game, while Lycoming converted 51% of its shots and 60% from three-point land.
In other conference action, Elizabethtown defeated Albright 79-75 to give Lycoming sole possesion of first place in the Commonwealth. The Warriors have three conference games left on their schedule, including both Albright and Elizabethtown.
The Warriors play at Albright on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. Lycoming’s final regular season home game is against Lebanon Valley on Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
