Members of the Warriors spent time clearing trails and maintaining the grounds at Rider Park and along the Loyalsock Trail on Wednesday.

“All of the freshmen at Lycoming participate in community service,” said head coach Mike Clark. “This opportunity allows our players to engage in community service and to build team unity by working together to accomplish their tasks.”

Dr. Mel Zimmerman, a biology professor at the College, took 18 players to Rider Park, just outside Montoursville. At the park, the student-athletes performed multiple grounds-keeping tasks, including clearing weeds along the roads leading into the park, painting signs throughout the park, and sanding and re-staining picnic tables.

Campus Minister Jeff LeCrone escorted the other 20 student-athletes to a section of the Loyalsock Trail in Muncy. That group spent the afternoon clearing paths and performing routine maintenance along the trail.

Wednesday marked the end of the first week of preseason camp for the Warriors, who will open the season on Sept. 6 at Ithaca.
