ANNVILLE, Pa. – Josh Kleinfelter and Ben Rosa were each honored by the Middle Atlantic Conference for their performance in Lycoming’s 48-28 win against FDU-Florham on Saturday, Nov. 1. Kleinfelter earned the league’s offensive weekly honor while Rosa earned the defensive nod.
Kleinfelter, a sophomore from Bellwood, Pa., was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading a rushing attack that put up over 200 yards against the Devils.
He carried the ball 20 times for 178 yards and three touchdowns in the first three quarters before sitting out the fourth quarter when the game was in hand. His yard-per-carry average was a season-high 8.9 yards in the game.
On the season, he has carried the ball 170 times for 875 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 109.4 yards per game and 5.1 yards per carry.
Rosa, a sophomore from Honesdale, Pa., was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Rose led the defense with 10 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks (minus-24 yards) and 2.5 tackles for a loss (minus-25 yards). He also forced a fumble that led to a Warrior touchdown, and was credited with one pass breakup.
For the season, he is second on the team in total tackles with 61 (Chuck Bellitto has 64), including 3.0 sacks and 6.0 tackles for a loss. He has two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Lycoming’s win leaves them in a two-way tie atop the MAC standings at 6-2 overall and 4-1 in league play. Albright boasts the same record, but Lycoming holds the tie-breaker by virtue of a 23-13 win against the Lions on Oct. 11.
The Warriors can clinch the MAC title outright with wins in their final two regular season games. They will travel to King’s on Saturday, Nov. 8, and will host Lebanon Valley on Nov. 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in each of those contests.
