ANNVILLE, Pa. – Three Lycoming College football players swept the Middle Atlantic Conference weekly honors after their performances in the Warriors 23-15 win against Lebanon Valley on Saturday, Nov. 15. Josh Kleinfelter, Jim Daley and Scott Erikson were all honored by the league.
Kleinfelter, a sophomore from Bellwood, Pa., was named the Offensive Player of the Week. He became the first Warrior running back since 2002 to gain more than 1,000 yards in a season. He led the offense against Lebanon Valley with 101 rushing yards and one touchdown, while also pulling down three catches for 40 yards. He currently has 1,074 rushing yards this season.
Daley, a sophomore from Warrington, Pa., earned his first Defensive Player of the Week honor after leading the Warriors with 12 total tackles, including seven solo stops and 1.0 tackle for a loss. With Lycoming leading 16-15 and Lebanon Valley starting a drive, he intercepted a pass and returned it 13 yards for a touchdown with 1:55 left in the game, effectively ending the game and sealing the win.
Erikson, a senior from New Providence, N.J., was named the Special Teams Player of the Week. He was perfect on the day, connecting on three field goals and two extra points to score 11 of the team’s 23 points. He set a career-high of three made field goals in a game, converting from 23, 24 and 28 yards in the wet and sloppy conditions.
Lycoming’s win earned the team a share of the MAC title and the conference’s automatic qualifier for the NCAA playoffs. It marked the first title and playoff berth for the Warriors since 2003.
Lycoming earned a No. 5 seed in the East Region and will travel to the No. 4 seed, Hobart, on Saturday, Nov. 22. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. in Geneva, N.Y.
