Chelsea HolbertPHILADELPHIA – The Lycoming College cross country team competed at the Belmont Classic in Philadelphia on Saturday, Sept. 27. Two women and one male set course-bests while one runner from each team set a personal best in the race.

The men’s team finished with 401 points while the women did not record a team score.

Steven Brown (Lock Haven, Pa.) led the men’s team with a 76th-place finish. His time over the 8,000-meter course was 31:43, improving on his previous best on that course.

Robert Holmes (Oxford, Mass.) was the next to cross the line, finishing 85th in 32:07. He was followed closely by Tim Aulett (Warminster, Pa.) in 87th at 32:09. R.J. Wiechecki (Garnet Valley, Pa.) was the fourth scorer, finishing 108th in 33:47 and Tim Miller (Landsdowne, Pa.) was the final scorer, placing 122nd in 34:59. Anthony Pilla (Milford, Pa.) ran a personal best time of 35:54.

The women were led by Kari Smith (Corning, N.Y.), who placed 51st in a time of 22:58 on the 5,000-meter course.

Holly Andrews (Plymouth Township, Pa.) placed 131st in 28:32, besting her previous top-time on the course by almost a minute. Gillian Robbins (Mt/ Holly, N.J.) was the third finisher, placing 133rd in 29:02, also a course-best. Chelsea Holbert (Lackawaxen, Pa.) ran a 10-second personal best, finishing in 33:21 to place 145th overall.
