READING, Pa. – The Lycoming College cross country teams honored breast cancer awareness month by wearing pink shirts decorated with breast cancer slogans at the Albright cross country invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Warriors posted their best performance of the season with the men’s team placing fifth and the women’s team placing sixth.
The men’s team placed fifth out of nine complete teams and 13 total teams in the event, with a total score of 142 points.
Robert Holmes (Oxford, Mass.) led the way with a 22nd-place finish on the 8,000-meter course. He finished in a time of 30:24.
Tim Aulett (Warminster, Pa.) was the next to cross the line, finishing in 26th-place in 30:42. He was followed by point scorers Steven Brown (Lock Haven, Pa.) in 31st (31:13), Scott Boyles (Williamsport, Pa.) in 38th (32:04) and Robert Wiechecki (Garnet Valley, Pa.) in 51st (33:35).
The women’s team placed sixth out of 11 total teams in the event, with a final score of 141 points.
Kari Smith (Corning, N.Y.) was the first Lady Warrior across the line, finishing in 12th-place with a time of 26:20 over the 6,000-meter course.
Alex Rinaldi (Sellersville, Pa.) was the second to cross the line, finishing in 39th-place in 29:59.
Holly Andrews (Plymouth Township, Pa.) was the third scorer for the Lady Warriors, finishing in 31:52 and placing 46th. Gillian Robbins (Mt. Holly, N.J.) was the fourth scorer, finishing 47th in 34:24. She was followed by Chelsea Holbert (Lackawaxen, Pa.) in 55th-place (39:50).
The cross country teams will travel to East Stroudsburg next Saturday, Oct. 25.
