WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. —Lycoming senior wrestler Matt Miller (Muncy, Pa./Montgomery) will compete in the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Friday and Saturday, March 7-8.
Miller, who is seeded sixth at 197 pounds will take on Delaware Valley’s Joe West in the first round. Miller is ranked sixth in the nation at 197 pounds by Brute/Adidas on intermatwrestle.com. West is ranked 10th. Wartburg’s T.J. Miller is the returning national champion at 197.
Rounds one and two of the NCAA Championships will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. (central time), with the quarter-finals beginning at 6 p.m. The semi-finals will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the finals begin at 7 p.m. Prior to the finals will be the Parade of All-Americans, consisting of the top eight finishers in each weight class.
Miller is 17-0 for the season, recording seven pins and a technical fall. He earned a berth in the NCAA Championships by winning the 197-pound title at the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Championships.
Lycoming’s 165-pound sophomore Chris Dahlheimer (Felton, Pa./Red Lion), who was 15-1 this year, also qualified for the NCAA Championships as an ECWC champion, but was forced to withdraw due to injury.
