COURSES:
Art 250: Introduction to Digital Photography

Introductory study of the concepts and aesthetics of color photography, digital photography and archival digital printing. Students will shoot on location in China and return to Williamsport for a week to print a final portfolio of work. Prerequisite: None

Art 337: Photography II
Intermediate study of black/white film Photography and traditional darkroom techniques including collage, multiple images, hand-coloring and toning. Students will shoot on location in China with an emphasis on conceptual and aesthetic aspects of photography and return to Williamsport for a week to print a final portfolio. Prerequisite: Art 227

Art 342: Photography III
Study of aesthetics and compositional strategies using medium format cameras and advanced printing techniques for black and white photography. Emphasis is placed on developing a comprehensive and conceptual portfolio. Students will shoot on location in China and return to Williamsport for a week to print a final portfolio.
Prerequisite: Art 337

Art 431: Advanced Digital Imaging
Advanced study of the concepts and aesthetics of color photography, digital photography and archival fine art digital printing. Students will shoot on location in China with digital SLR cameras and return to Williamsport for a week to print a final portfolio. Prerequisites: Art 227 and 343 or permission of instructor

Art 350: The Art of Italy
Upper level survey of the art of Italy, with first-hand study of the major Italian art and architecture. Satisfies W requirements of the college. Students will keep a journal and write two research papers on art and monuments visited in Italy.
Prerequisite: Consent of Instructor

Art 220: Painting I
Fundamentals of painting through lecture, demonstration and practical experience. Students will sketch and paint on location in China and return to Williamsport for a week of studio to complete a portfolio of work. Prerequisite: None.

Art 330: Painting II
Experimentation with various media, subject matter and techniques, with reference to historical and current artistic movements. Students will sketch and paint on location in China and return to Williamsport for a week of studio to complete a portfolio of work. Prerequisite: Art 220

Art 440: Painting III
Advanced study of painting techniques in various media with an emphasis on personal direction. Students will sketch and paint on location in China and return to Williamsport for a week of studio to complete a portfolio of work.
Prerequisite: Art 330

Art 111: Drawing I
Introduction to the fundamentals of the two-dimensional art, the materials and techniques of drawing, and current concepts and practices. Students will sketch and paint on location in China and return to Williamsport for a week of studio to complete a portfolio of work. Prerequisite: None

Art 221: Drawing II
Exploration of a range of materials and concepts, with an emphasis on developing technical skills while exploring expressiveness and personal style. Students will sketch and paint on location in China and return to Williamsport for a week of studio to complete a portfolio of work. Prerequisite: ART 111

Art 441: Drawing III
Advanced study with emphasis on developing personal style and experimenting with new media. Students will sketch and paint on location in China and return to Williamsport for a week of studio to complete a cohesive, professional portfolio. Prerequisite: ART 221

Art 212: Design and Color
Exploration of the creative process, elements, and principles of two-dimensional design and color theory. Students will sketch and paint on location in China and return to Williamsport for a week of studio. Prerequisite: None
