Name: Rebecca B. Jervey
Hometown: North Reading, MA
Major and Graduation Year: Physics and Astronomy Major, Mathematics minor, graduating in 2005
Reason for digging the excavation: It sounded like a fun history course that would be more hands on than just an ordinary lecture class. I needed distribution credits and this filled them well.
Highlight of your field school: The Indian powwow we went to was great! I didn't even know those things were open to the public but we got in and got to meet a lot of people, try some traditional foods, and see some of their products. It was a new introduction to the Native American culture and traditions.
Assessment of your experience: It was a good experience, lots of fun, lots of exercise and a great time! There was work but it was always filled with happy people in a relaxed environment that was very different from a normal lecture class. I'd recommend it to anyone who actually wants to live their history requirements!
