Always Seen, Never Understood: Sculpture and Stained Glass Walking Tour - Fine Arts Lobby
NEW! A walking tour of the art treasures in the nearby James V. Brown Library and Christ
Episcopal Church, led by Professor Amy Golahny. Within a few minutes walk of Lycoming
College are stunning Italian sculptures and stained glass. The sculptures are marbles collected in
Italy by James V. Brown and his family, and represent the Italian neo-classical style in
Williamsport; each has a story to tell. The stained glass in Christ Church is analogous to the
windows of French cathedrals in that it presents biblical events and has significant artistic merit;
the windows are by foremost glass artists, including Lamb and Tiffany. Space is limited, early
registration encouraged. Reservations required. |

Gallery Opening and Artist Talk: Images of Manzanar, Photography by Michael Heivly ’66 - Snowden Library Art Gallery
Mike Heivly '66 photographed and researched the Manzanar Japanese/American relocation camp in the Owens Valley of California. In 2003 he produced an exhibition of work about the camp. The Manzanar series currently consists of twenty one mixed media brown tone photographs, with charcoal, pastel and pigment made of soil from the site. The images are taken from artifacts still left on the site and the inscriptions/signatures of the inmates incised into various concrete structures throughout the camp. |

Meet Laurie Garris, Director of the Career Development Center, and learn about the resources the
Center offers to alumni. Private coaching sessions available (9:30-11:00 a.m.) to discuss your
career concerns, including resume critique, job/career transition, and tips/discussion for parents
of young people exploring colleges or careers. First come, first served basis. Other career
counseling available throughout the year by contacting Laurie Garris at garris@lycoming.edu. Science majors: Meredith (Moerschbacher) Leader '03, scientific recruiter with Kelly Scientific Resources in Washington, DC, will join Laurie to provide information about positions of all levels available with the National Institutes of Health. |

Fencing Demonstration and Lessons for Kids - Quad near Clarke Chapel
NEW! The Lycoming Fencers Club and Guild of Swordsmen, led by Dr. Michael Gaylor, NCAA
Division I national champion in foil in 1967 and a team NCAA Division I national champion in
fencing in 1966-67, will be offering a fencing demonstration and fencing lessons for kids on the
