NEW MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH NAMED

STUDENTS TRAVEL ABROAD FOR EUROPEAN BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

Nine Lycoming College students participated in the College’s Institute for Management Studies’ May-term study abroad program titled “European Business Experience.” The program helped students gain a better understanding of the concepts of globalization and internationalization through two weeks of business and financial institution visits, as well as outings to historical and cultural sites in London, Prague and the Czech Republic... LYCOMING COLLEGE INTERNS EDUCATE LOCAL ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

Five Lycoming College Clean Water Institute interns helped Dr. Melvin Zimmerman, professor of biology, present a hands-on program on aquatic life in and around the pond at Indian Park in Montoursville. Seven third grade classes participated in the program that helped students collect and identify common fish, aquatic insects and plankton from the pond as well as observe turtles and salamanders... ESPN Radio

LYCO PARTNERS WITH ESPN RADIO

Lycoming College has granted ESPN Radio 1050 (WLYC) athletic radio broadcasting rights for the 2008-09 academic year. ESPN Radio 1050 will carry all of the College’s football and men’s basketball games as well as a majority of the women’s basketball contests. Programming will include pre- and post-game shows as well as weekly in-depth feature segments on Lycoming’s coaches and student-athletes. In addition, the station will broadcast select competitions involving men’s and women’s lacrosse, soccer and swimming as well as softball, volleyball and wrestling.

STUDENTS AND FACULTY EXPERIENCE SPACE SHUTTLE LAUNCH

While seven astronauts prepared to begin their journey into space, two Lycoming College students, senior Jessica Bugno and May 2008 graduate Tara Tubbs, and their advisor, Dr. David G. Fisher, professor of physics and astronomy, were also anticipating an experience that is out of this world. On Saturday, May 31, the group witnessed the space shuttle Discovery depart from its launch station in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

Lycoming is proud to recognize that Bugno and Tubbs weren’t its only students anticipating the launch of space shuttle Discovery. Former student Renee Ross, who studied astronomy and physics at Lycoming from 1991-93, was lead Flight Data File coordinator for the launch. Another Lycoming graduate, Nicholas O’Dosey ’94, works as a Rendezvous Officer for Mission Control... Full Story
