New Residence
Hall (Available
Fall '07)
UPPERCLASS STUDENTS
Upperclass students choose the room and building they want to
live in each year. Room selection takes place each spring by a
lottery system. Students are assigned a lottery number based on
the number of credits they have completed and select their room
in the order of their lottery numbers.
LIVING OPTIONS
A variety of living options are available to upper-class students.
Four of the residence halls consist of two-room suites which share
a bathroom. There are theme floors such as the Creative Arts floor
and the Substance-Free floor. There are also floors for students
who are members of a fraternity or sorority as well as community
living situations similar to freshman housing. The College offers
several college-owned and maintained
apartments located within a block of campus to qualified junior
and senior level students. |

Lycoming College believes residence
hall living is an important part of the college experience and the learning that occurs in the halls is an essential ingredient
in the growth, development and education of our students.
As a residential college, Lycoming
College requires all full-time students to live in college housing
and participate in the college board plan each semester of the
academic year that they are enrolled. Married students, students
residing with their parents within a 40 mile radius, students
living with their dependents, and students 23 years or older may
request to be exempted from this policy. Such requests should
be submitted in writing to the Dean of Student Affairs at least
three weeks prior to the beginning of the semester that students
are requesting permission to live off campus.
Lycoming College is unable to provide housing for students who
have dependent children living with them.
FIRST YEAR STUDENTS
All first year students live in one of our designated freshman
residence areas in Asbury, Skeath
and Wesley. The floors
are coed by wing with an upperclass Resident Advisor for each
wing. Each hall is equipped with coin-operated laundry facilities,
a lounge with cable TV, and snack and soda machines. All
residence halls are secured by and ID card reader access system
which allows all resident students access to halls during
designated weekday and weekend times. All of the residence halls are wired with phone, cable
television and Internet service. Students may bring
lofts to create more floor space or rent them. Microwaves,
refrigerators, and TVs are allowed as well.
First year students are assigned a room by the Residence Life
staff but may choose their roommate if they wish. There are special
communities for those interested in an intensive study or substance-free
environment. All areas of the halls are nonsmoking.
Special programming is offered through the First Year Residents
Succeeding Together (FYRST)
program to help students adjust to college living.
