History

Why should I major in History? A common question whose answer is as varied as the personalities of the students who major in History. Our grads have found careers in historical societies, education, business, finance, computer programming, law, social work, journalism, counseling, and civil service.

History majors can pursue so many different career options – not only because of the writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills the major instills, but also because of the exposure students receive through Lycoming’s liberal arts distribution program. This broad-based education, which includes the sciences, languages, mathematics, arts, and humanities, prepares our students for the 21st century and offers numerous employment and graduate school opportunities.
