Options For Completing Math 100

If based on your Math Placement Exam, you are placed in Math 100, there are several options for fulfilling this requirement:

Review Basic Algebra prior to returning in the fall (online review packages are available at a reasonable price with information available during Orientation for this purpose). Retake the Placement Exam on the Sunday preceding the first day of classes. Please register for this exam by 8/1/08 by notifying the Office of the Registrar (570.321.4306). It should be noted that you will not be permitted to retake this Placement Exam after you have started classes.

Review Basic Algebra at a later date and then take the Basic Algebra Competency Exam offered during the first week of classes each semester by the Mathematics Department. Please register for this exam by notifying the Assistant Dean for Freshmen (570.321.4358) at least one week prior to the start of the semester.

Request permission from the Office of the Registrar to enroll in an off-campus Algebra course during the summer following your freshman year.

Enroll in Math 100 no later than the second semester of your sophomore year. Potential majors in Accounting, Astronomy, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Cooperative Engineering, Mathematics or Physics should schedule Math 100 in the first year.
