CLASS OF 2011
As
a student at Lycoming College, "you will be
encouraged to develop and strengthen virtues and traits of
character that enable, ennoble, and emancipate the human
spirit." Through internships, practica, workstudy, and
co-curricular experiences you will have many opportunities to
learn leadership skills, test career options, address social
problems, and develop civic responsibility. To this end, as
you begin your freshman experience, you will be asked to
participate in one of the following community service
projects. It is our hope that in so doing, you and your
classmates will heighten your awareness of yourself, your
classmates, and the community of Williamsport. While you will
be giving freely of your time and energy, you will have the
satisfaction of knowing that you have helped others who are
less fortunate. You should also know that you are continuing a
long tradition of freshman participation in service-learning
and that this participation was recently recognized on a
national level when Lycoming College was awarded the Templeton
Award for Character.
Please
understand that it is a LYCOMING COLLEGE REQUIREMENT FOR ALL
FRESHMEN to make a commitment to a service project. Please
also understand that you are also making a commitment to the
people of Lycoming County. Last year the Class of 2010
volunteered over 1200 hours of their time, including following
community service projects!
