The Maids explores the relationship between an upper-class woman and her two maids. The maids dream of leaving the shackles of servitude by killing their mistress, acting out fantasies in which they rise above their positions in life. The play journeys in and out of these fantasies until the point of no return, combining mystery and murder with the story of outcasts making a futile effort to reach the world of acceptance and belonging.
