The Lycoming chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, founded over 20 years ago, has a long history at the college. Alpha Psi Omega is a national honorary dramatic fraternity. With over 550 casts at colleges and universities throughout the United States, Alpha Psi Omega is the largest national honor society in America. Membership in Alpha Psi Omega is only granted to fully accredited institutions with a four-year curriculum in theatre and drama, leading to a bachelor’s degree. To be invited for membership, students must earn a minimum number of points by participating in Welch Theatre productions. These points can be earned in a variety of ways such as performing, directing, designing, stage managing, and working on running crews or as board operators. Each spring a new group of theatre students is inducted into our Alpha Psi Omega chapter in recognition for their vital contributions to the theatre program. APO sponsors events for the entire campus community, such as the annual Open Mic Night that allows students across campus to showcase their talents—from singing to dancing to poetry reading.
