COURSES
The major is designed to provide a systematic understanding of government and politics at the international, national, state, and local levels. Majors are encouraged to develop their skills to make independent, objective analyses which can be applied to the broad spectrum of the social sciences.
A major in Political Science consists of ten courses as follows: Introduction to Politics, U.S. Government and Politics, and Political Analysis; two courses in American politics from State and Local Government, Political Parties, Congressional Politics, The Presidency, Public Opinion and Polling, and Women and Politics; one course in Legal Studies from Civil Rights and Liberties, Courts and the Criminal Justice System, Legal Research and Writing, Law and Society, and Mass Media Law and Regulation; two courses in World Politics from Comparative Politics and Geography, International Relations, The Vietnam War, War and Peace in the Middle East, and American Foreign Policy; and two additional Political Science courses.
