Rashid Named Director of College Relations at Lycoming College

 

jerryJerry Rashid has been named director of college relations at Lycoming College, according to an announcement by Lynn Jackson, Lycoming’s vice president for college advancement. Rashid will be responsible for managing all public relations, media relations, publications and sports information efforts at the college.

Rashid comes to Lycoming from Olivet College in Michigan, where he served as assistant vice president for college relations the last five years. While at Olivet, his duties included managing advertising, public relations, publications, sports information, special events and the Web.

Rashid’s professional background includes more than 15 years in higher education public relations. Prior to Olivet, Rashid worked at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina, where he served as marketing communications specialist for three years. He has also worked in sports information at Stetson University in Florida, Wayne State College in Nebraska and University of North Dakota.

“I am very pleased to have Jerry joining the advancement team at Lycoming College,” said Jackson. “Jerry brings a great deal of higher education experience to Lycoming, and I am confident he will provide strong leadership for our Office of College Relations. I look forward to working with him in continuing to enhance the positive image of the college.”

Rashid’s work has been recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Public Relations Society of America and College Sports Information Directors of America.

“It is with great excitement that I join Lycoming College,” said Rashid. “Lycoming is a nationally recognized liberal arts college with a historically strong past and very bright future. I am looking forward to working with President Douthat, Lynn Jackson and the rest of the campus community in an effort to promote such a great college and the people affiliated with it.”

A native of Lansing, Mich., Rashid earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Michigan State University. His wife, Rosaline, and two children, Michelle and Jimmy, will be joining him in Williamsport after the first of the year.
