Lycoming College art professor receives Canadian Web Award

9-28-09

Canadian Web AwardWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – An interactive Web site (www.warriorwriters.org) designed by Lynn Estomin, a Lycoming College associate professor of art and local digital media artist, was recently recognized by the 2009 Canadian Web Awards with its highest honor, a five Maple Leaf rating. The Canadian Web Awards is an independent organization of top Canadian designers that reviews and rates Web sites worldwide.

Estomin designed the site for the Warrior Writers Project, which provides a creative and supportive community for artistic expression, healing and transformation for veterans, using art as a way to process and make sense of their military experiences. The project was started by Lovella Calica in 2007 and was inspired by the Veterans Writing Group, begun by author and poet Maxine Hong Kingston for Vietnam War veterans 15 years ago. In June, while working on the project, Estomin attended a retreat with Kingston and the Veteran Writers Group in California.
