Lycoming College to welcome new students Aug. 22

RevCharnockLycoming College will hold its annual New Student Convocation Friday, Aug. 22, at 4 p.m. The Rev. John Charnock, director of pastoral care services at Susquehanna Health in Williamsport, will be the guest speaker. Members of Lycoming’s Class of 2012 begin moving in that morning at 9.

The convocation, a traditional ceremony that marks the beginning of the academic year, will be held on the College’s Upper Quad next to Clarke Chapel. In the event of inclement weather, the convocation will be held in the Recreation Center.

Charnock, who earned a bachelor’s degree in religion from Lycoming in 1975, has served as a pastor at several churches in eastern Pennsylvania. He earned a master’s degree from Harvard Divinity School.
