WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College junior Justin Waycaster recently received his second renewable scholarship from the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). During the 2007-08 academic year, he received the organization's Joseph Taricani Memorial Scholarship.
Waycaster, a resident of Watsontown, Pa., attended Warrior Run High School and Elizabethtown College before transferring to Lycoming at the beginning of his sophomore year. He is an accounting and business double major with concentrations in finance for both areas. At Lycoming, Waycaster participates in the Institute for Management Studies program, accounting society and the wrestling team. He is a Delta Mu Delta business honor student as well as a member of PICPA. Waycaster is employed by the Williamsport Area Municipal and Tax Office and is a research assistant for the College’s sociology department. During the 2009 summer, he will be interning at Beers + Cutler, a public accounting firm in the Washington, D.C., area.
Scholarship candidates are judged by their intellectual capacity, leadership potential, financial need and intent to pursue a career in accounting. Multi year scholarship amounts range from $1,000-$15,000, and are determined based on the strength of the candidates application. PICPA is a professional association of more than 19,000 CPAs working together to improve the profession and better serve the public interest. Founded in 1897, the PICPA is the second-oldest and fifth-largest state CPA organization in the United States.
