New Testament GreekWILLIAMSPORT, Pa.Steve Johnson, an associate professor of religion and chair of the Religion Department at Lycoming College, has released his newest publication, titled “New Testament Greek: A Beginning-Intermediate Grammar, Revised Edition with CD.” Johnson co-authored this revised edition of James Allen Hewett’s grammar with his longtime friend and colleague, Mike Robbins.

According to Johnson, “New Testament Greek” is targeted at those who wish to learn ancient, biblical Greek. It is an excellent resource for students doing translation, exegesis and biblical interpretation.

The edition includes introductory chapters on English grammar and “meaning” in an effort to make reading and understanding Greek easier for students. Examples from the New Testament, translation exercises directly from biblical texts and the CD-ROM that comes with the textbook all assist students in learning and understanding the Greek language.

“This project, which took five years from beginning to end, was my first real experience in co-authoring a publication,” said Johnson. “It was also my first experience dealing substantially with editors. And, unlike the other books, the motivation for writing came directly out of my teaching experience as a professor at Lycoming College.

“Of the four books I have written, I think this book has given me the most pleasure and satisfaction, because of so many people we involved through the years. I dedicated it to my Greek students because they have been so important in shaping the way I teach.”

Robbins is a professor at Azusa Pacific University’s Haggard School of Theology and is an instructor for “Advanced Greek Grammar: Hellenistic” as Claremont Graduate University. He is the author of “The Testing of Jesus in Q.”
