WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Amanda Lane and Amber Rock, senior biology majors and environmental science minors at Lycoming College, presented the results of their Honors Project in biology at the “CromaCollege” workshop April 20-21, presented by Cromaglass of Williamsport. Their project, titled “A Biological and Chemical Analysis of a Sequence Batch Reactor Sewage Treatment System, Investigating the Use of Fixed-Film Media to Increase Treatment Efficiency,” involved collecting and interpreting biological and chemical data to test the efficiency of wastewater treatment systems.
The CromaCollege workshop allowed CromaGlass, a major manufacturer of wastewater treatment systems, to train operators for the use of its products. Attendees at the conference came from as far away as New Mexico and Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands.
Lane and Rock demonstrated how to collect and interpret the data so the operators could interpret the efficiency of the systems under their management.
