Lycoming College Chamber Choir to perform Nov. 13

Chamber ChoirWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College Chamber Choir will present a concert titled “Bartok, Britten and others,” Friday, Nov. 13, at 8 p.m. in the Mary Lindsay Welch Honors Hall. The concert will contain Bartok’s “Four Slavic Folk Songs” and Britten’s “Festival Te Deum,” “Jubilate Deo in C” and “Jubilate Deo in E Flat,” which he wrote at the age of 21.

The chamber choir, under the direction of Dr. Fred Thayer, will perform a piece written by Thayer, titled “Not the Man Who Searches.” They will be accompanied by Richard Adams on soprano sax. The chamber choir will also perform the debut of “Psam 135,” written by Lycoming alumnus Jim Martucci. Pianists Richard Lakey and Lee Saville Andree will accompany the chamber choir. 

The Lycoming College Chamber Choir consists of 27 singers who are chosen by audition from the larger College choir and incoming freshmen. Like the other Lycoming choirs, the chamber choir is comprised of students from all academic fields and majors.
