Michael Yoder, a celebrated painter, will be displaying his latest project, titled “Always Crush Me,” at the Lycoming College Art Gallery from Oct. 16 to Nov. 21. An artist’s reception will be held on Oct. 16 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the art gallery.
Yoder’s work attempts to defy the traditional ideas of painting by dealing with the concepts of abstraction and representation. He often uses schematics of digital photographs in his work, which is a starting point for the larger project.
Yoder’s teaching experience includes courses at Rhode Island School of Design, Yale University and Adelphi University. Yoder earned a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University in painting/drawing and a master’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in painting.
