Lycoming College to host Sodus Art Banck exhibit

Bronze by Amanda LeeWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Artists Amanda Lee and Bruce W. Sodervick will display their work, “Sodus Art Banck at Lycoming College,” in the College’s art gallery in Snowden Library from Sept. 17-Oct. 9. Their project consists of sculptures by Lee titled “Exodus of Wit,” and paintings by Sodervick titled “Ethereal Crusade.” An artists’ reception will be held on the opening day of the exhibit from 4-5:30 p.m.

Lee and Sodervick are co-directors of The Sodus Art Banck, located in Sodus, N.Y. The organization houses artists from around the world for 3-4 week residency and workshop sessions, where they have access to a full studio and can work independently, independently with some critique or with full instruction in a workshop with critique environment. Onsite accommodations are available for residents during their sessions.

Painting by Bruce SodervickLee earned a MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she developed and taught welded steel and soft sculpture. She also earned a BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Mich. Lee earned both degrees with a concentration in welded steel, sewn fabrication and installation. She specializes in metal inert gas welding and figurative assemblage, and experimental bronze casting. Lee runs on-going critiques, presentations and workshops at The Sodus Art Banck. She has been featured at numerous local and regional group, invitational, competitive and one-person exhibitions and is the recipient of various awards and commissions.

Sodervick earned a MFA from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill., and a BFA from Indiana University, where he refined his specialties in oil painting, boat building and experimental iron casting and glass. Sodervick spent more than 30 years teaching painting, drawing and sculpture at Southern Illinois University, Ohio University and Rochester Institute of Technology, and has conducted countless workshops and presentations regarding creative search and human expression. He has been exhibited in more than 100 group, invitational, competitive and one-person exhibitions. Sodervick has received numerous awards for his work and has been featured in a variety of publications, public and private collections and has installations throughout the country and abroad.
