Lycoming College to hold New Student Convocation Aug. 28

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College will welcome the Class of 2013 to campus during its annual New Student Convocation Friday, Aug. 28. The traditional ceremony, which marks the beginning of the academic year, will be held at 4 p.m. on the College’s Upper Quad near Clarke Chapel. In the event of inclement weather, the convocation will be held in the Recreation Center. Lycoming alumna Colleen Heisey, an attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of Hunton & Williams LLP, will be the guest speaker.

New students begin moving in that day at 9 a.m. The College’s fall semester begins Monday, Aug. 31.

Heisey’s practice focuses on issues surrounding the regulation of drug, biological, medical device, food, dietary supplement and cosmetic products by the Food and Drug Administration, Department of Agriculture and other federal and state agencies. She has co-authored several articles, including “Drugs in the Water: States consider extending manufacturer responsibility to product disposal.”

Heisey earned a bachelor’s degree in biology with minors in chemistry and environmental science, and graduated summa cum laude from Lycoming in 1999. She earned a master of public health degree in health policy and management from Johns Hopkins University, and earned a juris doctor with honors from the George Washington University Law School. Heisey holds membership with the State Bar of California, District of Columbia Bar and the Food and Drug Law Institute. She resides in Alexandria, Va.
