WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Lycoming College alumnus Chip Edmonds has been named the institution’s vice president for college advancement, according to an announcement by President James Douthat. Edmonds begins his new duties Aug. 1, and will provide leadership for all of the College’s fundraising initiatives as well as oversee the departments of alumni relations, college relations and development.
“Known for his strong work ethic and deep devotion to Lycoming College, Chip will be a great asset to the College and the Williamsport community,” said Douthat.
Edmonds comes to Lycoming from Yale University, where he has served as a development officer since February 2008. He has been responsible for soliciting alumni, friends, foundations and corporations for gifts at levels of $100,000 and more. He also raises funds for Yale Tomorrow, a five-year, $3.5 billion campaign.
Prior to joining Yale, Edmonds served as a major gifts officer at Lycoming for nearly two years, helping to raise funds for Campaign for a Brighter Future, a $42 million endeavor. His background includes working at the Duke University Divinity School as director of the annual fund, and a development associate with the Duke Youth Academy. From May 1998 to June 2002, Edmonds worked at Lycoming as the assistant director of admissions and development assistant.
“I am thrilled to return to Lycoming as vice president for college advancement,” said Edmonds. “Even more, I am humbled by the opportunity to serve my alma mater in this new capacity. I have great admiration for the Lycoming community and its outstanding alumni. It is truly a privilege to serve in this role and I very much look forward to meaningful interactions with students, alumni, parents and friends of Lycoming. I am grateful to President Douthat, the search committee and the board of trustees for the opportunity to return to a place which I hold most dear.”
Edmonds graduated from Lycoming in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in history and music, and a minor in business management. In 2006, he earned a master of divinity degree from the Duke University Divinity School.
