Hudak named director of safety and security at Lycoming College

Michael HudakLycoming College has named Michael Hudak Jr., director of safety and security, according to an announcement by Dr. Dan Miller, Lycoming’s dean of student affairs. Hudak was selected following a national search that generated more than 70 applicants.

Hudak brings more than 30 years of experience to the College. In his new position, he will be responsible for the effective and sensitive administration of the College’s security, accident prevention and fire safety programs. Hudak presently teaches an introduction to criminal justice course at Lycoming.

Most recently, Hudak served as director of public safety for the city of Williamsport, where he was responsible for overseeing the city’s police, fire and codes bureaus, emergency management, zoning and all aspects of public safety.

“Michael Hudak is an excellent fit for Lycoming College,” said Miller. “His familiarity with the area and experience with the city of Williamsport and FBI make him very well-qualified to lead the College’s safety and security efforts.”

Hudak’s experience also includes more than 30 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. From 2001-06, he was the supervisory senior resident agent for Williamsport and State College. He was responsible for the management and operation of two regional FBI offices in central and north central Pennsylvania, which encompassed a 17-county area, the largest geographical territory managed within the Philadelphia Division of the FBI.

From 1976-2001, Hudak was a FBI special agent accountant, which included conducting all aspects of criminal investigation and intelligence gathering. His field assignments included St. Louis, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York and Philadelphia.

“I’m thrilled to have been chosen for the director of safety and security position,” said Hudak. “I’m honored with the selection and will do my very best to uphold and enhance all aspects of safety and security at Lycoming College. I’m really looking forward to the college environment and working with the administration, the tremendously talented faculty, staff and most importantly the student body at this renowned college.”

Hudak, a native of Mount Pleasant, Pa., earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1975. He has also completed a variety of training and leadership programs through the FBI.
