As Director of Choral Activities at Lycoming College, Dr. Thayer conducts campus concerts of major works and concerts on national and international tours. In addition to his work with the college, during the summer he is the associate conductor of the Gregg Smith Singers at the Adirondack Festival of American Music in Saranac Lake, NY. As a composer, his work has been recognized by ASCAP with the Standard Panel award and "Meet the Composer" grants. Among his numerous compositions for choral ensembles, orchestra and band are a large-scale mass and two operas. Recent compositions include works for the Dale Warland Singers, The Grand Rapids (MI) Chamber Choir, and the Susquehanna Chorale. Dr. Thayer's work is published by E.C. Schirmer, Lawson Gould, Bourne Co., Laurendale Associates, and McGroarty Music.
