Amy Cartal Falk is an assistant professor of French and Spanish and co-director of the French program at Lycoming College. Dr. Cartal-Falk is the Organizer/Coordinator of the Department Film Series, Coordinator of the Language Lab, Advisor for the French Club (Club Franco), and Phi Sigma Iota.
Her current research projects include Zénaïde Fleuriot's early novels and novels for children, George Sand's influence on nineteenth-century women writers, and female identity in J.M.G. LeClézio's Printemps et autres saisons. Her research and teaching interests focus on nineteenth-and twentieth-century Francophone literature and feminist studies. Dr. Cartal-Falk is currently pursuing certification as an ACTFL (OPI) Tester in French.
Dr. Cartal-Falk teaches courses at all levels of French language, literature and culture as well as Beginning Spanish I and II. In addition, Dr. Cartal-Falk teaches the Foreign Language Methods Course to future teachers.
Dr. Cartal-Falk earned her bachelor's degree in French and Spanish from Lycoming College. She obtained a master's degree in French literature with a minor in second language acquisition in 1996 and earned her doctorate in French literature in 2002, both at The Pennsylvania State University. She has taught at Lycoming College since 1991.
