Infrastructure
- Williams Residence Halls rewired with high-speed Category 6. Planning for the remaining two residence halls.
- Wireless expanded to Rich, Forrest, and Williams residence halls. This completes wireless to all residence halls and most of the campus.
- Full implementations of the Cisco Wireless Controller to enforce and secure policy such as rogue device detection.
- Campus IP surveillance system for parking lots and other areas as identified.
- Upgrade parking lot emergency phone system and possibly integrate with surveillance.
- Expansion of proximity access control to areas beyond the residence halls to areas such as the Library.
- Plan fiber and copper infrastructure for more network redundancy and disaster recovery.
Network Servers and Devices
- Server upgrades include the DNS/DHCP services, Backup services, Library web systems, expansion of Moodle space and various network upgrades.
- Packetshaper upgrade for application layer management beyond 100MB.
- Complete the actions and policies in response to the outside Security Analysis in early 2008. Utilize metrics for closer analysis of data flows and security monitoring.
- Refine the Campus Manger network access control for registration and remediation of all ports and wireless and refining the new Persistent Agent.
- Distribution and management of a single campus anti-virus/anti-spyware program to include faculty, staff and students. Audit distribution.
- Implementation of portal SQL server and related Microsoft SharePoint systems.
- Coordinate disparate systems for Single Sign-on using SharePoint portal.
- Research and plan for Linux and/or Microsoft 2008 migrations.
- Promote long term planning of the Computer Center facilities.
- Research SAN and clustering technologies
- Repeat Disaster Recover desktop exercise.
Telecommunications
- VOIP project extended from Phase III (Faculty and Academic Center) to Phase IV (Administrative and other buildings.) Plan phase V for elimination of PBX.
- Fully utilize VOIP technology for personal and campus directories as well as soft phone use.
- Have a comprehensive student phone policy approved to reflect the full implementation of VOIP.
Administrative Computing
- Following the 2007 IT audit from Parente-Randolf and the follow up visit this summer, continue to refine change management and other recommended procedures.
- Converting custom code to Envision CASE tools following last summer’s Release 18 upgrade. Preparations to become database independent with the focus on the MS SQL Server and ASP.NET environment.
- Implementation of the new Sharepoint 2007 portal using Datatel middleware.
- Extend Time & Attendance module to all staff employees from just students.
- Implement new Bookstore point-of-sale system and online web commerce.
- Continued updating and response to the 2007/2008 Business Action Plan.
- Administrative Computing Committee deliberations on Imaging, Data Standards, Business Action Plan, Training, etc.
- Pilot and implement the newest online registration process to adapt to the Lycoming two phase system, allowing for future utilization of long term educational planning software.
- Review the freshman orientation registration process.
- Plan and implement comprehensive e-Commerce solution for business transactions.
- Continued cross-training of the Systems Analyst and Programmer Analyst to be the first line of the support for the financial and students systems, respectively, allowing the director more time for research and development.
- Phase I of Colleague Workflow for Student Information System. Later HR and Financial
Web Services
- Having completed the College web site redesign and all administrative departments, complete new academic department web pages.
- Improve academic web pages with the governance of the Faculty Web Advisory team.
- Final phase out of the older FrontPage services after transferring student organizations to new Orgsync portal.
- Design and implement the Datatel/Sharepoint 2007 portal for the faculty, staff, and student constituencies.
- Assist departments with Sharepoint web parts and the Library with the Sharepoint myLibrary.
- Convert PDF and Word forms to Sharepoint.
- Test and pilot Google calendars for a shared campus calendar solution.
- Plan and implement a campus system of RSS content updates to both the Sharepoint portal and external web site.
- Training in ASP.NET technology for forms scripting and other basic functions.
End User Computing and Academic Computing
- Implementation and support of a new Digital Media Lab.
- Pilot student color printing in the Heim and B200/B201 Labs.
- Work with the End User support team to make the Request Tracker a stronger work order system. Use the system to produce reports for meaningful management improvements.
- Research possible reorganization of monitoring labs with alternative methods of help desk teams, surveillance, etc.
- Computer Lab upgrades in B200 and B201.
- Refine the use of the computer-based handhelds, laptops, and wireless in the Modern Language Lab.
- Continue to expand Moodle to a greater percent of the academic departments and continue to explore the use in other support offices.
- Complete the Office 2007 migration and prepare for Vista. IT staff certification
- Build and expand the Knowledgebase section of the IT Services web site.
- Involve the End User Support Team with the Sharepoint portal implementation, such as maintaining deadlines and helping with editing web parts.
Media Services
- Install 3 new multimedia areas
- Renovations to several classrooms to standardized Extron controls.
- Modify classrooms per the Room Survey report produced by the Academic Computing Committee.
- Negotiate new long term cable contract with Comcast. Long term planning to become video independent with IP TV.
- Expand audio and video services to digital online “Pod casts” and more frequent streaming video projects. Develop clearer policies on copyright and procedures.
- Advance support services to advising on the best practices for instruction, given the many possible choices available.
