To Set Up Your Mailbox

  1. Call the voice mail system: 4999
  2. Password (for setup purposes only) type in 54321.
  3. Answer the system's questions. You will record your name; record a personal greeting; press # to continue and set your personal password (security code) (which you will use to access your mailbox to retrieve messages) and press #. (note: security code cannot be in consecutive order, same digits nor an extension number)
  4. When you hear "to continue," press * and hang up

To Check New Messages

  1. Call the system 4999 from the office.
  2. Enter your personal security code.
  3. If you have a new message and would like to hear it, enter 1.
  1. Call the system (570) 321-4999, from off campus.
  2. Enter *plus your extension.
  3. Enter your security code (password).
  4. If you have a new message & would like to hear it, enter 1.

*To Get Into the Message Quicker: Press 4999, Security Code Plus #1#
*Note: Always Press * To Exit the Voice Mail System

To Check New Messages From Another Campus Phone

  1. Call the system 4999
  2. System asks for your personal security code : Enter #*plus your extension
  3. Enter your personal security code (password).
  4. If you have a new message and would like to hear it, enter 1.

To Leave a Message Directly in a Subscriber's Mailbox

  1. Call the system 4999 from the office, or (570) 321-4999 from outside the office.
  2. Enter your personal security code. (note: you must go into your voice mailbox to access another)
  3. When asked "Send Messages?", enter 2 for yes.
  4. System will ask you to enter the extension(system will then play back the person's name & extension you selected). Press #, select # to record your message. Message options, press # to send.

Re-Directing (Forwarding) a Message
You can re-direct, (or copy) a message to another subscriber, (anyone else who has voicemail).

  1. While listening to a message, press # to skip over the message, you will hear the time/date the message was recorded, press 5 to forward.
  2. Enter the extension (system will play back the person's name/ext. you selected); press #.
  3. Enter 2 if you want to record an introduction to the message, otherwise, when you hear " Message Options" "forward as is" - press #

Transferring a Call Directly To a Voice Mailbox
With an outside call in progress:

  1. Press transfer.
  2. Press 4999, wait for answer.
  3. Enter the extension you are transferring to, and hang up.

Short Cuts - Press During a Message

Save (archive) 2
Delete 3
Reverse 7 (move backward in message)
Fast-Forward 9

Short Cuts - Press After a Message

Repeat 1
Delete 3
Reply 4
Forward Message 5
Mark as New 6

Voice Mail Shortcuts: 4999 + Security Code +

Change Greetings: 411
Change Password (security code): 431
Change Recorded Name: 432
Change to Alternate Greeting: 411 then press 2 then press 2 again

Bypass Greeting: Press # and Record Your Message:
If you wish to leave a message, you may bypass the department's or personal greeting by pressing the # at the beginning of the message. The system will immediately record your message.

How Can you Tell if you Have a Voice Mail Message

Single Line Phones

The "message waiting" light appears in the upper right hand corner of the phone, will be lit. Also, when you pick up your handset and if you hear a "stutter" dial tone, it means there is a message. At this point, you may check your Voice Mailbox or you may proceed with making your phone call. The message waiting dial tone will be present every time you pick up the handset until new messages are listened to.

DTERM (Multi-Button) Phones

The "MW" (message waiting) light, upper right hand corner of the phone, will be lit.

For Faculty and Staff

"You have reached (state your full name). I'm unable to take your call at this time. You may stay on the line to leave me a message or if you need immediate assistance, please press #### at this time to be connected to the department secretary. Thank you."

When Answering a Department Telephone the Procedure Will Be As Follows:
(State Name of Dept.) - (Then Your Name) - May I Help You?

Always try to answer calls by the third ring and in a pleasant and professional manner.
