GREETINGS

My name is Tim Eskridge and I am from Havertown, PA, which is just west of Philadelphia and about a three hour drive from Lycoming College.

I entered Lycoming interested in biology and education, but found that I had a stronger interest in teaching all the major subjects and learning about how the brain works. Psychology and Elementary Education is a common pairing for students interested in Elementary Certification, so I decided to pursue these interests.

My first year at Lycoming focused on completing the distribution requirements. During my sophomore year I started on the elementary education track and was introduced to the education profession by a great instructor, Mr. Gordon. We studied and discussed, in a small setting, the diversity of the classroom, and the qualities of a well rounded teacher. As my junior year began, I had several opportunities to observe in local elementary schools, thus helping me understand why I would enjoy education. It is a great feeling knowing that the teacher, at times, is the most stable part of a child's life and can make a difference for every student in the classroom.

I found great academic success in Psychology and Education. I was inducted into the Psi Chi chapter of the National Honor Society for Psychology and also inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi chapter of the National Honor Society for Education. After the induction ceremony, I became vice president of the Lycoming chapter of the National Honor Society for Education. I look forward to planning activities on campus and in the community.

As a senior, I will be completing my Psychology degree, finishing up my Elementary Education Certification requirements, and participating on the football team. I have learned so much from my experiences at Lycoming College. The friendships I have made with my classmates, teammates, and professors have helped me thrive as a student-athlete within the Lycoming community. I have learned many skills and the meaning of hard work, which will be very useful when I begin my career in Elementary Education.
