I am a Williamsport native, born to Dot and Bud Berndt....my mom was at Little League Baseball for 50 years and my dad was a local radio announcer, who started the broadcasting dept. at WACC in the early 1980's. I am the youngest of three children..my sister, Nancy, died in 1974, leaving three young children. I have a brother, Steve, who is in the hotel management business and lives all over the world.
I've been at Lycoming College since 1979...10 years in Athletic Dept. as Secy to Athletic Director, and the other time as Admin. Asst. in the Education Department. I have thousands of MY KIDS out there in the real world! I enjoy keeping in touch with as many as possible and welcome wedding, work and baby info from all!
My own family is my number one priority! My son, Brian, graduated from Lycoming College in 1994..Pol. Sci/Econ and my daughter, Sarah, in May, 2005 in Criminal Justice. My late husband, Dan, graduated from Lycoming in 1995, with a degree in History, with Elem. and Social Studies certif. My mom, Dorothy Laylon Berndt, graduated in 1939 (Music) when it was Dickinson Seminary! I have three wonderful grandchildren, Elizabeth, Daniel and Matt, who make me laugh!
My hobbies: reading, knitting, volunteering, shopping- especially at outlets, traveling and keeping in touch with friends and family through email! I also try to maintain my "reputation" of knowing or being connected to everyone in the world, or at least the USA! My main goal in life at this point is to find the guy with the beach house!
Since Dan's death while he waited for a heart transplant that never came, I have become deeply involved in sharing organ/tissue donor awareness information in our region. I am co-founder of the Central Susquehanna Gift of Life Coalition, which meets the 2nd Monday of each month at the Foss House at Geisinger, Danville. We are affiliated with the regional GIFT OF LIFE Donor Program, dedicated to sharing information about organ/tissue donor awareness through public speaking, health fairs, community, church and school programs and other events. Please contact me if you are in need of a speaker or information table for an event. I'd like you to know that Dan not only was a potential organ recipient, but he was also an organ donor, many times over. Please, share your decision to donate with loved ones...make the decision an easy one for them.
I've learned that I owe my strength to FAMILY, FAITH and FRIENDS! I truly believe that all continue to play a huge part in my life!
