Dr. Jinney Smith received her B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, her M.S. in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University, and, in 2006, her Ph.D. in Political Science from Northwestern University. Prior to teaching at Lycoming, Dr. Smith was the founding Director of the University of Maryland's B.A. Program in Criminology & Criminal Justice at USM-Shady Grove. Her primary research interests involve the study of the impact of law on political elites and society generally. She co-edited Juvenile Delinquency in the United States and United Kingdom (1999) and has presented and published papers on the impact of U.S. Supreme Court decisions, state legislative behavior, and crime policy.
