WHY MAJOR IN COMPUTER SCIENCE?
In the US, Information Technology (IT) employment is 17% higher than it was in 1999, 5% higher than in 2000, and has grown 8% in the past year. Also, the average pay for somebody in IT has been rising at a rate of 2% higher than the average yearly inflation. While the jobs and pay are out there, the majors aren't. As a computer science major you will be sought after by employers, as there are fewer majors than ever (with more jobs available).
Here are the fastest growing occupations that you can attain with a Bachelor's Degree (those in italics can be attained with a Computer Science degree):
- Network systems and data communications analysts
- Physician assistants
- Computer software engineers, applications
- Computer software engineers, systems software
- Database administrators
As you can see, the need is out there for people like yourself!
