NATIONAL BROADCASTING SOCIETY

The National Broadcasting Society is the umbrella to all the other Communication based organizations on campus. Known to most of the campus as NBS, our goal for the years to come is to become a chapter of excellence. In order to maintain this, NBS is striving towards gaining a strong membership, putting forth time in community service and performing the aspects of electronic media, through events such as broadcasting the Men’s and Women’s basketball games and Volleyball.

Our membership has been steadily increasing since it was founded on the Lycoming College’s campus only a few years ago, and accepts anyone’s involvement no matter what their major is. NBS is connected with the Communication National Honor Society known as Alpha Epsilon Rho (or AERho). This honor society is the only available honor society within the Communication department. In order to be apart of AERho, a student must be a Communications Major or Minor with an overall GPA of 3.0 and a Communications GPA of a 3.25. This person must attend all meetings and pay a national membership for a year.

The National Broadcasting Society works hard in achieving the best with electronic media. The highlights of our year include attending the
Regional Convention and National Convention. At these conventions,
students learn about various job opportunities that are available in
all Communication realms, learn of the new technologies that are
developing, and networking for possible internships/jobs.
The National and Regional Convention is also another
opportunity to send in movies, commercials, or anything
else electronic related to be judge by fellow peers and those
who are on the national staff.

Overall, NBS of Lycoming College is a great opportunity
on campus to not only learn more about electronic media,
but also to have fun
while doing it.
